ARTIST STATEMENT:
A move to Provincetown in 2009 provided me with an opportunity to become a part of an historic arts community and to experience first-hand the work of artists (past and present) and the landscapes and the townscapes that have inspired their work.
My paintings have evolved from earlier traditional townscapes using a basic understanding of architectural forms from my professional background to imaginary forms and locations using unidentified vantage points and perspectives.
My approach and preparation for oil painting includes my love for notebook pencil sketching, quick watercolor studies and weekly access to figure drawing at PAAM to keep my eye in check.
I am interested in moving my painting forward and not being satisfied if this year’s work is the same as a previous year’s work.
PAUL KELLY - BIO

His work has been widely shown in juried and member exhibitions at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum and has been included in the museum’s permanent collection. Paul is also represented by the Artemis Gallery in Northeast Harbor, Maine.

A Celtic Celebration: Songs and Stories for the Season with Davis Bates
Wellfleet Adult Community Center
A Celtic Celebration: Songs and Stories for the Season with Parents’ Choice Award-winning Storyteller Davis Bates
The Wellfleet Council on Aging will celebrate St Patrick’s Day, Celtic culture and the impending arrival of spring by presenting a performance by Parents’ Choice Award winning performing Davis Bates. Entitled A Celtic Celebration, the program will involve the audience in a variety of cultural traditions. It will include traditional songs and tales from Ireland, Scotland & Wales, sea songs & chanteys, ghost stories and family tales. There will also be plenty of sing-alongs, a short lesson in how to play music with spoons from a kitchen drawer, and an appearance by an Irish dancing wooden dog named Bingo.
Pete and Toshi Seeger called Davis "thoughtful, creative, human, and a fantastic storyteller." Davis' traditional and participatory performance style empowers and encourages audiences of all ages to join in the fun, and to take the songs and stories home with them to share with others. He also encourages listeners to remember and share stories and songs from their own family and cultural traditions.
Davis Bates has been telling stories for over forty-four years, in schools, libraries, colleges and community settings around New England and across the country. His recording of Family Stories won a Parent’s Choice Gold Award and was named one of the year’s best Audio Recordings by Booklist Magazine. Davis has also served as director and consultant for several local and regional oral history and folk arts projects. Davis lives in the village of Shelburne Falls, MA, and when he isn't collecting or learning stories, he spends his time working with the Hampshire College Alumni Advisory Group and gardening and working on pollinator plantings on the Hampshire campus and at home.
The performance will take place at the Wellfleet Adult Community Center on Thursday, March 14th, following a lunch that begins at 12:30 p.m. Be sure not to miss this wonderful of program of traditional interactive entertainment. For more information and lunch reservations, please call (508) 349-0313. This performance is funded, in part, by a grant from the Wellfleet Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Artist Reception and Book Signing - Costantine Manos
Great Pond Gallery at the Wellfleet Adult Community Center
Constantine Manos
Constantine Manos has created unique and complex images that freeze surprisingly disparate elements together in a single fascinating frame.
Photographing in crowded public places and many unique locales in the United States, Manos presents a kaleidoscope of the visual vocabulary and candid moments within our American culture. Each image has it's own message and elicits it's own set of responses from the viewer and provides a rich and dynamic situation for capturing the unexpected.
Manos has transformed the ordinary into the extraordinary and the real into the surreal in this truly beautiful and colorful collection of photographs exhibited here at The Wellfleet Adult Community Center.
Costa Manos has worked as a professional photographer for many years. His career began at age 19, when he was hired as the official photographer for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, but started at The Symphony’s summer home at Tanglewood. His photographs of the orchestra culminated in 1961 with his first published work, “Portrait of a Symphony”
Manos graduated from the University of South Carolina. His career lead him to important photographer positions for various magazines in New York City, Boston and his Greek homeland, where he once again realized a collection of photos for “A Greek Portfolio”.He then also created the photographs for his book “Bostonians” in honor of the city’s 200th anniversary.
In 1995 “American Color" was published, containing Manos' photographs of American people and places. He was awarded the Leica Medal of excellence for this comprehensive collection of extraordinary images. He is a distinguished member of the international photojournalist collective, Magnum.
His celebrated work is in the collections of The Library of Congress in D.C., New York’s Museum of Modern Art,the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Boston Athenaeum,Biblioteque National in Paris, The Benaki Museum, Athens, The Provincetown Art Association and Museum, and many other international venues.
Constantine Manos currently lives full-time on Outer Cape Cod where he continues to take photographs with his favorite Leica cameras.

Abraham Storer - Painting of Poland
Part of a monthly changing exhibit showcasing local artists.
Great Pond Gallery at the Wellfleet Adult Community Center, 715 Old Kings Highway
Month of February, M-F: 8 am - 4 pm
Artist Reception - February 11th - 3:00 - 5:00 pm
Robert Rindler: Curator, James Connors: Co-Curator & Installation
Abraham Storer is a landscape painter, whose paintings reflect the diverse places around the world where he has lived. He has an MFA from Boston University and a BA from Brandeis University and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Honors include a Fulbright Fellowship to Israel, and a recent grant from the Wellfleet Cultural Council.
He currently lives in Wellfleet, Massachusetts with his family where he maintains a studio practice and writes about art and culture. This work was created during the pandemic era, between 2019 - 2021. This was a time of personal change and transition, which echoed larger changes and disruptions within the world. It was a period where I moved with my family to Poland, my wife’s native country, after living and working in Israel for five years.
Artist Statement:
In these works, I responded to the landscape around where we lived in Southern Poland. My painting practice challenged me to ground myself in my environment and find something personal in a foreign landscape.
Agricultural motifs become spiritual metaphors. To me, these paintings serve as reminders of the beauty found in transitory states - the places briefly framed, captured and in focus, as the eternal beckons and peaks through the cracks of our shifting experiences.

A BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Although artist Walter Dorrell began oil painting more than 50 years ago, he is best known perhaps for his plein-air watercolor work. Since first coming to the Outer Cape in 1977, he found that medium more perfectly captured his outdoor experience of the famous “Cape Light.” His summer work was supplemented for many years by still-life work done in Winter in his studio in Wellfleet. This Great Pond gallery exhibit brings his work almost full circle, showing his recent oil paintings—still based on landscape, but in a more abstract mode.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I am very pleased to have a show at this fine venue, just down the street from where we have lived since 1982, invited and curated by Robert Rindler, assisted by James Connors
At age 91, I still love going out in the morning to my favorite spots as often as I can. The sheer joy of painting while floating on our local ponds has been a total delight for so many decades.
These paintings are explorations, really, landscape reduced to its color elements, seeing if I can still convey the excitement I feel when painting them. It’s a way of looking into the future, I suppose, hoping things will turn out ok. And I do!
A Wellfleet Cultural Council sponsored event.

Bill Evaul is an internationally recognized painter and printmaker who maintains his studio in Provincetown. He studied painting and printmaking at Fleisher Art Memorial, Philadelphia, Syracuse University School of Art, NY, Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NYC and the Whitney Museum of American Art. NYC. He came to Provincetown in 1970 as a painting Fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center and has maintained his studio there ever since. Evaul’s artworks are in national and world-wide collections from Tel Aviv to Hong Kong. His work is held by The Library of Congress, The Zimmerli Art Museum, The Boston Museum of Fine Arts, The Provincetown Art Association and Museum, The Cape Cod Museum of Art and several others.
In 1979, while on assignment for Pratt Graphics Center’s Print Review magazine, Bill Evaul discovered a rare technique of woodcut color printmaking that was originated in 1915 in Provincetown. First known as the “Provincetown Print” because it didn’t fit into any of the known classifications, it had fallen into obscurity, with only a few living artists who had actually practiced the technique. Evaul researched the history of its invention and produced a feature article for the magazine. Following that, he embarked on a self-directed course of study to learn how to make what is widely known today as the “White-Line Color Woodcut.”
This exhibition gives a brief overview of Evaul’s journey, beginning with some of his earliest prints and progressing forward for over 40 years with his development and extension of the practice. Building upon the techniques of BJO Nordfeldt, Blanche Lazzell, Ethel Mars and the other original members of the Provincetown Printmakers group, Evaul has since made contributions of his own, including more intense layering of colors, more painterly handling of the images, use of oil paint and oil inks in addition to the traditional watercolor, printing on canvas as well as paper, exploring portraiture, and working in large scale.
Evaul had conducted numerous workshops and classes nationwide. While the images for the prints are typically created based on a drawing or painting, he has found that, coming full circle, his prints can inspire new paintings.
